Kathy McNeil - 2022 Workshop Teacher

“Every creative act begins as a connection between the artist and their world. Exploration of that moment of inspiration fuels the process of telling a story and making art. Results are never predictable, as the discovery is different each time. A mastery of techniques and design will be noted and appreciated by others, but will the magic that inspired the artist, reach out and touch someone else? When it does.... something big is shared.” Kathy’s work features hand appliqueing thousands of little scraps together to create quilts that look like paintings. Often with over a hundred different fabrics, Kathy revels in adding small details and surprises for the viewer to find. Her quilting adds an additional dimension of texture. About Kathy: Internationally award winning quilt artist, author, pattern designer, teacher and judge. Teaches online classes through American Quilters Society. Teaches on quilting cruises to great destinations with Quilt Seminars at Sea. Her quilts are frequently features in museums, magazines, calendars, and international shows.. Many of her quilts are incollections.
