CALENDAR OF EVENTS: Thursday, June 1 (show opens tomorrow): Workshops - pre-registration required, 9-4 Friday, June 2 - Opening day of the show: Workshops - pre-registration required, 9-4 Lectures - time varies, registration preferred, walk-ins welcome if space permits “Sit and Sew” for Quilts of Valor Help the Finger Lakes Chapter of QOV reach their goal by sewing block kits together in the Sit and Sew.  If you can sew, you can help.  Machines are generously provided by Jackie Lynn’s Discount Sewing Center and kits are available to work on.  Spend a few minutes helping Finger Lakes QOV reach their goal of 30 quilts by the end of 2017.  More Info. Quilt Appraisals, 9am - 4pm, click for more Vendor Demos, click for more Saturday, June 3: Workshops - pre-registration required 9-4 Lectures - time varies, registration preferred, walk-ins welcome if space permits Improvisational Round Robin - Are you competitive and like to have fun?  Open to all, teams of four will show off their improvisational design skills in a timed round robin format.  Only tops produced with no quilting or binding required.  click for more.   Register to participate with your four person team, or register as a participant and be assigned to a team.  Any way you do it, you are sure to have a great time.  Entry fee of $20 includes lunch that day and a weekend show pass.  Sponsored by Ivy Thimble Quilt Shop. Quilt Appraisals, 9am - 4pm, click for more Vendor Demos, click for more Sunday, June 4 - Wearable Art Day! (final day of the show) Fashion Show - 11am and 2pm - Take a break, sit back, and enjoy Focus on Fashion - Makers and Models II, a narrated fashion show featuring jackets, vests, ensembles, shawls, up-cycled items, and other clothing and accessories made by our very talented Genesee Valley Quilt Club members.  Audience members will have the opportunity to see the garments up close and meet the makers after each show.  Come to the fashion show and see modeled approximately 50 garments - sewn, embellished, felted, woven, and repurposed/upcycled.  Because the fashion show was so popular at the 2015 show we are scheduling it at both 11am and 2pm.  (Member entry form for Focus on Fashion.) Lectures - time varies, registration preferred, walk-ins welcome if space permits Quilt Appraisals, 10am - 3pm, click for more Vendor Demos, click for more EVERY DAY DURING THE SHOW: Vendor Shop Hop For every $100 you spend at the show, your name can go into the Vendor Shop Hop Drawing.  Baskets made from items donated by our generous show vendors are up for grabs, but you must stop at the Vendor Shop Hop table to have your receipts validated so that you can put your name into the drawing.  The more you spend with the vendors, the more opportunity you have to win. Gift Gallery GVQF presents a gallery of quilted, quilt and sewing related items in its Gift Gallery.  Take time to look over the selection for gift purchases for yourself or someone on your gift giving list. Raffle Quilt Ticket Sales and Drawing Drawing for the raffle quilt will take place on Sunday afternoon.  More info. Vendor Demos  Some of the vendors will be presenting demonstrations at their booth at specific times each day.  Although a list of vendors presenting demonstrations will be in the show program, please visit the specific vendor booth early in the day for information on the demo time and topic or technique. History Booth In addition to our perennial favorite, the GVQC Fabric Scrapbooks that contain many vintage quilt squares dating back to 1936, you will find a delightful display of antique sewing machines.  Many toy, sample, and other small sewing machines, owned by GVQC members, have been researched, and will be labeled with known details.  Come and enjoy these tiny treasures. Quilt Appraisals Elizabeth Davis, AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser and member of the Professional Association of Appraisers of Quilted Textiles will be available to appraise contemporary, antique and traditional quilts.  Beth has participated in classes and lectures on fabric dating and identification, technique, construction, documentation, ethics, and current trends to determine values of quilted textiles offered by national quilt organizations as well as those by local shops and appraisers.  Beth will be available during show hours for appointments and walk-in appraisals will be provided on a time available basis.  Pre-registration is recommended.  Whether you choose to bring your quilt to the show or already have it hanging in the show, visit the appraisal booth, located on the second floor of the Gordon Field House at RIT.  Print Quilt Appraisal Request Form and submit to Beth.  You will be contacted to set up an appointment time.  Each appraisal requires approximately 30 minutes and your completed written appraisal will be mailed within 2 weeks.   Print Quilt Appraisal Information.  Appraisal Fee $50 (paid directly to appraiser) Information Booth If you have a question, can’t find what you want, or would like information about Genesee Valley Quilt Club, please visit the Information Booth located just inside the main entrance. Quilter’s Consortium of New York State Table As a member of QCNYS, Genesee Valley Quilt Club has prepared a basket of goodies for the QCNYS drawing that will be held at the end of the show.  Anyone who presents their Quilters Travel Club Passport at the door will receive a discount on admission and can enter their name in the drawing for the basket.  Stop at the Consortium Table to get your passport stamped and to enter the drawing.
